Tested before offered.
A sock is the smallest piece of knitwear a brand can offer, and one of the most demanding. It is worn all day, rubbed inside a shoe and washed again and again. Before offering cashmere socks to brands, we wanted to know which ones would truly last.
Dozens of factories, one standard
Over the past months, our team visited dozens of sock factories. We bought their socks, wore them for weeks, washed them and wore them again. We assessed each factory as closely as its product.
- CompositionMany socks sold as 100% cashmere are blends. We checked what each pair was really made of.
- ResistanceWe watched how each sock held at the heel and toe, and how it kept its shape after weeks of wear.
- WashingWe washed every pair repeatedly to see how the fibre and the hand feel evolved.
- ReliabilityA good sample is only a start. We looked for suppliers able to deliver the same quality, order after order.
This work showed us which suppliers we can rely on. We then brought together the strongest points of each into three cashmere socks of our own, from a cosy 7 gauge to a fine 18 gauge.
What 100% cashmere means in a sock
A sock has to stay on the foot. Our cashmere socks are knitted from 100% cashmere yarn, combined with a small share of elastane, between 1% and 5% of the weight. That small share keeps the sock in shape and holds it in place through the day.
Washed to last
Washing is where a cashmere sock gains or loses its life. Too much detergent weakens the fibre before the sock is ever worn. We wash our socks lightly, on purpose: they leave our hands soft, and they gain softness with each wear.
A lightly washed sock keeps its fibre whole, and lasts much longer.
