Hypechase sustainable engagements

We don't follow the trend. It simply has to be done.

UPCYCLING

Instead of producing more and more, half of our business is about upcycling! On a day of spring, we discovered a place filled with Japanese kimonos. Beautiful silk, block print, and sewed by hand…
Whether it comes from a legacy or unused by their owner, these kimonos were somehow abandoned.
We work closely with a Japanese organization that collects them. We love to give them a second life! Make your choice on the upcycled section.

NATURAL FIBERS

Mongolia counts approximately 40 million goats, yak, camels, and sheep altogether. Not using what is locally available would be a shame.
Especially because the quality is excellent and the animal is running free all day in the green steppes. Our knitted products, whether it is Mongolian cashmere, yak, or other wool, all originate from Mongolia.
It is also fully knitted and assembled in Ulaanbaatar.
  • Sourced from sustainable suppliers (Sustainable Cashmere Union, Green Gold, SFA)
  • Animal fibers: Cashmere, camel, yak, sheep
  • The nomadic lifestyle keeps on going
  • The nomadic families have access to medical care and education
  • No mulesing. The animals are gently combed

HAND SPINNING

The yarn used for knitwear garments is usually spun by machines.
At HYPECHASE, every hand-knitted garment we provide is spun by hand. An extremely rare skill that requires a long period of experience.
To make it work, we created a community of women (usually jobless with kids) and work together to manufacture handspun cashmere, hand-spun yak, or hand-spun camel yarn.
  • Keep the fiber soft and flexible
  • Provide jobs to people in difficult situations
  • Foster old traditions and craftsmanship
  • No use of machinery and electricity

HAND KNITTING

After being handspun, we handover the yarn to another community of ladies (also usually jobless with kids) passionate about knitting.
Centimeter by centimeter, the garment is knitted. As a result, your clothes haven’t been processed by any machines from the animal to the final product. The feeling is actually something you must experience.
The fiber is light and smooth. Experts say it is still alive!
